Commence in Tainan started fairly early. The Cross Street (Minquan Road and Yongfu Road, currently) and Rice Street (Xinmei Street, currently) have been prosperous all the way from the time of Dutch colonization, Qing Dynasty, Japanese occupation until today. In various stages of time, numerous stores had been set up and craftsmen of all kinds gathered on the long streets and winding alleys to satisfy people's needs in every way. Yet time flew, many industries lost their popularity. Their colors faded and some even disappeared. In the meantime, some traditional professions and craftsmanship have also been revived with creativity and new facets. The artisans have managed to freeze the pictures of the brilliant traditional crafters and industries, and kept the traces of life in this ancient city.
