National Cheng Kung University was founded in 1931 as Tainan Technical College of the Taiwan Governor-General Office. It was the highest academic institution in engineering education in Taiwan. Over more than 8 decades, the one-campus technical college has been developed into a comprehensive university with 9 colleges and 12 campuses. Architectural antiquities are strew among modern teaching buildings which encourages students to immerse themselves in the culture of Tainan when they study here. They not only get a better understanding of the history of Taiwan, but develop social concern and a humanistic temperament.
