The commercial development of Tainan started very early, and the areas around Cross Street (now MinQuan Road and Yong-Fu Road) and Rice Street (now Xin-Mei Street) went through Dutch Provintia, Qing Dynasty, and Japanese rule and were still prosperous. Those long-crooked streets were lined with stores and craftsmen's shops to provide people's every need. As time goes by, many ancient industries gradually faded or even disappeared in the fast-paced modern time. At the same time, there is also a group of people who stick to traditional skills/crafts and inject creativity to extend the old industries into new lives, keeping frames after frames of wonderful traditional images of people from all walks of life. They also carved and preserved the traces of life in history for this ancient city.
