Route Introduction

Tainan Railway Station

Tainan Railway Station was built in 1900. During Japanese rule, it was called Tainan Train Station. A two-story building with a lobby, waiting areas, and platforms on the first floor, while a restaurant and a railway hotel (western-styled hotel) could be found on the second floor. It was the only train station with a hotel in Taiwan and Japanese royal family members also stayed in this hotel when they came to visit. In 2017, Tainan Railway Station, as a national-level monument, had the seven hotel rooms reconstructed to their original looks as part of the restoration construction activated. The Railway Station faces the city of Tainan in the front and its rear end is close to National Cheng Kung University. There are numerous shops, hotels, and department stores nearby. It's an important business district in the downtown area of Tainan city.
