Route Introduction

National Museum of Taiwan History

   The Museum of Taiwan History, located in Annan District and separated from the Sankandian settlement by Yanshui Creek, serves as a national history museum with a vision of "Taiwan in the World." Grounded in the principles of new local studies and the exploration of "Taiwan in the World," the museum focuses on the preservation and reclamation of Taiwan's cultural relics. It aims to promote the value of multiculturalism, facilitate dialogue and international collaboration on historical issues, and advocate intellectual equality.

   The museum plays a crucial role in presenting Taiwan's cultural identity and addressing contemporary social issues. It provides diverse information content, including exhibition objects, documentary materials, image materials, models, and replicas. This array of resources supports a comprehensive knowledge interpretation of Taiwan's general history. The museum caters to audiences ranging from school teachers, research scholars, and the general public, offering an opportunity for in-depth exploration of Taiwan's history. The permanent exhibition titled "This Land, This People (Si-tu-si-min): The Story of Taiwan" takes visitors on a journey starting from the mysterious legends of origin. It navigates through the changing times on Taiwan's land, showcasing the appearance, voice, and stories of the Taiwanese people within the broader historical context.

   In the context of this route, participants explore the Sankandian settlement to witness the construction of people's real living spaces. Subsequently, by visiting the Museum of Taiwan History, they systematically learn about the history of the interaction between the land and the people in Taiwan, providing a comprehensive perspective on Taiwan's history. This route serves as a meaningful journey to understand and appreciate the land of Taiwan.
