Route Introduction

Hu-Toupei

  Hu-Toupei was originally used for irrigation and water storage, as early as in the 26th year of Daoguang (1846), one of the records said it was created by Ouyang An, a citizen of Tavocan, and went through many renovations during the time. After Pei-tan completed its large-scale renovation in Meiji 39th year (1906), Tainan Government intended to make Hu-Toupei a scenic area and it was regarded as one of the twelve most beautiful scenic spots in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation. In order to make it easy for tourists to enter Hu-Toupei, it developed an overall scenic tourism route of Hu, Toupei at that time, this route starts from Zhongshan Road of Hsinhua District today at Hsinhua Elementary School on the way to Zuozheng, going southbound along the side road of Taiwan Sugar Railway to Hsinhua Junior High School, then going eastbound along Hsinyi Road, walking pass Hsinhua Vocational High School to Leng-shui-pi, and then turning southeast to the Gate of Hu-Toupei, the street was lined by trees on both sides of the road to facilitate tourists, and Hsinhua City Street was also planted with trees at that time to further decorate the scenic area, which brought profound impact on the development of Hsinhua hospitality industry.
