AnNei Sugar Factory of YanShui

AnNei Sugar Factory bears witness to the economic development of Yanshui, and it also represents an important chapter in the history of sugar industry in Taiwan.  In 1903. Mr. Wang, Xuenon, a sugar merchant from Tainan and others founded the Yanshui Harbor Sugar Co. Ltd. and set up a modern sugar factory on Yanshui Street in Xingyin County of Tainan, the first sugar factory set up by Taiwanese. In 1905, the sugar factory was officially in operation. 1992, AnNei sugar factory ceased its operation.  In 2018, Minister Deng, Lijung of Culture Ministry announced that AnNei sugar factory would be renovated as a film-making base.  As a professional studio, the show "Puppet Flower" of Public TV and Taiwanese opera <> were both filmed here.

The factory still retains the equipment and main buildings during the sugar-making period, rails, rutters, mini train stations, AnNei shrine remains, sugar factories, storage warehouses, Zhongshan Hall, Red House (laboratory), and bomb shelters. With the change of time, the main functions of AnNei sugar factory has changed too over time, from the sugar industry in the Japanese rule to the film-making and television industry today, which has carried an important industry of Tainan in the long river of history.
