 The Cows' Home

The Ba-Ong Dairy Farming District of Liu-Ying Township, Tainan City, was established in 1974. It is now the country's largest fresh milk production site. The official website says Ba-Ong Dairy Farm District imported 240 cows from New Zealand in the early years. In order to develop refined dairy farming, the farm is currently more than 20,000 cows, which has become the source of major fresh milk companies like President Enterprise, Kuang Chuan Dairy Co., Ltd., and Wei Chuan Food Corp takes up 1/6 pf market share. Later, in response to Taiwan's attending World Trade Organization (WTO), the competition from foreign dairy products pushed the government to the promoted transformation of the dairy farming area, and Ba-Ong Dairy Farming Area also integrated the dairy farming industry with cultural tourism. Among them, "The Cows’ Home" not only provides visitors with the experience of dairy farming, like feeding and milking, it also worked with Taiwan Sugar Company to run Ba-Lau-Ye train station. From here, it is the mini-sized sightseeing, and leisure train (commonly known as the Wu-Feng Train) transformed from the sugarcane shipment trains to Xin-Ying Sugar Factory. It is the longest track in Taiwan for mini trains with a total length of nearly 4.6 kilometers. Visitors will enjoy the scenery of pasture fields, sugarcane fields, rice fields, Jia-Nan Irrigation Ditch, and feel the unique railway culture.
