Confucius Temple Cultural Park

Tainan Confucius Temple is the first Confucius’ Temple in Taiwan.  It was built in 1665 and was the only place for all Taiwanese children to attend school in the early Qing Dynasty, known as the "First School of Taiwan".  On December 28, 1983, it was announced a first-level national temple monument. In 1997, after the revision of the Law on Cultural Assets, it is now a national monument. Tainan Confucius Temple's pattern is the standard "School on the left and  temple on the right, hall in the front and cabins in the back" with triad courtyard, three compartments with two courtyards.  It is also the only temple in Taiwan with a honorary stony archway. The Autumn Worshipping of Confucius is held every year on September 28.

The Confucius Temple Cultural Park, with Confucius Temple as the center, connects the old neighborhoods and connects the main ancient monuments nearby, such as Great South Gate, Fuzhong Street, Koxinga’s shrine, etc. Fuzhong Street is one of the tourist circles of Tainan City, selling a variety of hand-crafted art, creative goods, as well as traditional and creative cuisine.
