Built in 1912, it was Tainan District Court in Japanese rule. Designed by Moriyama Matsunosuke, the structure of the architecture is magnificent and of the luxurious and grandeur of Baroque style. The asymmetrical treatment of the space presented rich architectural aesthetics. Along with the Presidential House and National Taiwan Museum, they are praised as the three most classical architecture in Japanese ruling era. The Judicial Museum was classified as a second-level ancient heritage by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and renovation started in 2009. It was finally reopened in November, 2016 for visitors. Presently there have been preserved in the museum a court room, the file room, insured storage room, and detention room. There was a round tower and a tall tower. The tall tower was torn down after war because of severe damage. Now there is an artistic installation of a tall tower hanging up-side-down in memory of the tall tower that was torn down.
