Route Introduction

│Tainan Art Museum, Building 1│

Built in 1931, it was originally the Tainan Municipal Police Department during the Japanese period and was designed by Tainan Technician Sutejiro Umezawa as an eclectic Art Déco building. After World War II, it was changed to Tainan City Police Department. In 2011, it was again transformed into Tainan Art Museum, Building 1, and started operations on October 21, 2018. With aesthetic education as its goal of development, Building 1 showcases the works of local artists in Tainan and important artists from other regions, providing a wide range of artistic activities. One corner of the museum also displays some of the cultural relics of the Tainan City Police Department at that time, which records the history of the Tainan Police.
