Located in Tainan City, the Nanyu Planetarium is located on ErXiGong Hill of Danei District. Ahilly terrain of high and low, the park conforms to the hillside topographical design. The Planetarium was first set up in 2004, and began to expand, with the Star Pavilion and surrounding landscape platforms, mountain walkways and other outdoor facilities, to complete the park's main amenities in 2012. In 2010, Tainan County was merged into the City, and the "Nanyin Astronomical Education Park" was renamed "Nanyin Planetarium" and the Children's Science Museum in the North District was merged into the "Tainan City Nanyin Science Education Museum", and the trial operation began on February 1, 2013, with the official opening on June 29 of the same year. The location of the planetarium is low in light damage, the surrounding field of view is wide and suitable for observing the celestial images. During the day, one can also watch Zengwen Creek curvy sub-streams, river-stair terrain and the mud rock formations at Moon World and other rich geological landscape. The planetarium is equipped with the largest telescope in Taiwan (main mirror with 76 centimeters in diameter) to provide astronomical observations.
