Mango Farming Industry in Yujing

There was the record of mango planting in Taiwan as early as the Dutch era, but Yujing got famous mainly after introducing Irwin mangoes from Florida, USA after the war in 1962. Mr. Zheng, Hanchi planted the first Irwin mango tree in his yard at his ancestral house in DouLioGia, Yujing, which began the farming industry of Irwin mango in Yujing.  With the cultivation success and improvement made to the varieties, sweet and large mangoes from Yujing can even be exported to Japan, and drove the follow-up mango industry and local events, such as dried mango, chopped ice with mango, etc.  Mangoes have become an important feature of Yujing.
