Salt Pan Ecological Village is connected with the Si-Cao Wildlife Preservation Zone, and the surface area is three hundred and fifty-five hectares. It was formerly known as the An-Shun Salt Farm (developed by Taiwan Salt Company) in 1919. Previously, it was mostly artificial bay salt, and it was also Taiwan's first industrial base for tile vaped salt during the Japanese rule period. After the Nationalist government took over, it transformed from artificial into the industrial salt industry. In 1994, the salt industry stopped functioning, the "Si-Cao Wildlife Preservation Zone" was set up in the industrial area. Thus, the salt worker or residents moved to Bei-Liao in 1994 due to the low topography issues. Therefore, Salt Pan Ecological Village was officially established and became a settlement that combines ecological culture and tourism. The Tainan City government looks upon the fertile cultural, historical, and environmental resources of the village, the government devoted to restoring the title paved the salt field gradually. The government set up a salt industry library to preserve local cultural assets and history, the salt industry, and salt worker's culture. Apart from this, the Tai-Jiang Fish Specimen Biodome, Tai-Jiang Fish Museum, Tai-Jiang Bird Ecological Biodome, Tai-Jiang Cetacean Museum, and the rescue pool are the best proof of promoting ecological conservation.
