Bao’An Road and Sakariba(盛り場Sakaliba)

In the early days, Tainan local ancient refreshments chose temples, ports, and markets where crowds gathered.

The Han-Wen Narration in the Taiwan Nichi Nichi Shimpo shows the location and consideration of ancient local refreshments at the beginning. Bao'An road walks along Fu'An creek has been a vital port crowd distribution center since the Qing Dynasty, and there are still many local ancient refreshments that remain in the present days. Tainan's unique refreshment, "shrimp meatballs," was made from the famous vendor in Shakariba during the Japanese rule period. The founder, Mr. Ye Hua-Tang, changed the stuffing from pork into shrimp and then shelled the shrimp, removed the head and the sand vein, level up the taste by adding special braised pork sauce, it becomes a characteristic refreshment in the old Tainan city. It is different from Chang-Hua's meatballs, which use sweet potato flour as the skin; shrimp balls are usually ground with rice pulp, and poured into a cone model, filled with stuffing, and covered with a layer of rice pulp.

Furthermore, Ye's descendants Mao-Xiong, took over the business and moved to Bao'An road. The unique "Sausages and Cooked meat" in Tainan is similar to the "Slices platter." It refers to various kinds of stuffed sausage (such as sausage, rice sausage, shrimp roll, and others) cooking meat and viscera in the boiling water. In the early days, it was peddling along the street. There was no fixed ordering method and price; the weight was determined by the number of diners and their preferences. The seller estimated the price; it was a special afternoon tea for the old Tainan people.
