Route Introduction

Dadaugong: Patron God of Claimed Territories

“Dadaugong at Haiweiliao”is, namely, the patron god from Haiwei village. Dadaugong is widely loved by the residents in the sixteen villages of Taijang. The temple had been a private school called“Gongci”, a religious and cultural center in the olden days, which has been renamed Chaohuang Temple. It has three functions: Social participation, community learning and cultural inheritance. According to senior citizens, there was a fishing village near the Xuezi Creek, and a rich villager Wu, Fanpo (1809-1863), took the statue of Dadaugong back to the village. However, the statue had to be returned to the temple from where it came. Yet the incense ash has been used since then in Chaohuang Temple and continues to bless the villagers on this piece of salted land.
