This place has been an important landmark in Tainan. This park was where the“Yifong Pavilion”situated in the residence of Lin, Chaoying (1739-1816), praised by the Japanese as the only Taiwanese artist in the Qing Dynasty. This place was repurposed by the government for firefighting. Later, the stony statue of Kodama Gentaro, the fourth governor from Japan, was placed here, and this place has since acquired the name of “stony statue”. Later, this place became Taisho Park. After WWII, the park was renamed Zhongzheng Green Park and later Minsheng Green Park to commemorate Lawyer Tang, Dezhang, who was executed here after the 228 Incident. Its current name is Tang, Dezhang Memorial Park. This area is the center from which seven major roads emanate - Zhongshan, Gongyuan, Minsheng, Zhongzheng, Nanmen, Kaishan, and Qingnien. Many of the novelist Ye, Shitao's works mention this place.
