Route Introduction

Water-borne Guanyin Street

In the Japanese occupation era, this district was named Qingshui Ting because of the Qingshui Temple on this street. Legend has it that the temple worshipped Master Qingshui before. During the Qianlong era, an ancient piece of wood in the shape similar to a Quanyin was found here on Fun Creek. It was sculptured into a Quanyin and has since been worshipped here. Wood plaques in this temple were written by famous scholarly businessman such as Lin, Chaoying and the novelist Xu, Bingding.
