Duiyue Gate

National Ancient Heritage-Duiyue Gate, was built in 1835. It was the gate of the Western outer city wall. The base is made of coral stone. And the main structure was made of bricks with an arch. The gate is three meters thick and its position on the“Dui”position in The Eight Diagrams (Ba gua). There were many government officials and rich businessmen in the city, so Dui Yue Gate is very important in the protection against invading pirates. The remains of“Li Yuan”-the villa of rich businessman Lin, Shuangwen from Tainan can be seen next to the gate
