Legend has it that this is the location Koxinga and his troops camped the first night after they landed in Taiwan. The three lords are Zhu (Koxinga), Cao and Wei. Cao and Wei are Zhu's most trusted generals. A special feature with this temple is the mural of 12 floral deities–men and women, set up by their individual characteristics to represent the seasons. The inner five guarding troops (Nei Wuying) are worshipped in this temple along with the blue dragon troop in the East, red grouse troop in the south, white tiger troop in the west, black troops in the north and yellow troop (Yellow Emperor) in the center. A grand worshipping ritual is held every 12 years which includes the burning of the Emperor's Ship.
