Tainan Park

 

   Construction on Tainan Park began in 1912 by the famous Japanese garden designer Izawa Hannosuke and was completed in 1917. On June 17th, 1917, a grand opening ceremony was held. Tainan Park was the largest open space in Tainan during the Japanese occupation era. The Western concept of a public park was being introduced to provide citizens with recreational and entertainment space. The 2nd Infantry of the Japanese army also began its military drills and educational activities in the park.
