Route Introduction

The Big Well (Da jingtou)

Ever since Dutch colonial era, the Big Well had supplied good-quality water to local residents. It fell out of use after household tap water was introduced. Its outer walls were removed and covered with a metal lid when the roads needed to be broadened. Due to the silting- up of the Taijang Internal Sea, the harbor was forced to move from here to the“Governor Receiving Pavilion” (Jieguan Ting).
