Route Introduction

Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple (Sidian Wumiao)

The most worshipped martial deity in Ming and Ching dynasties was Kuan Yu. This temple was built by Zheng, Jing and officially recognized in the Qing Dynasty, therefore it was named“Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple”(Sidian Wumiao) The plaque in the temple“Brave Hero”(Da zhanfu), written by Yang, Ting-Li, is one of the four most famous plaques in Tainan. General Kuan Yu is worshipped in the main hall, with a plaque written by Emperor Sienfong of the Qing Dynasty himself-“Best of the Best throughout History”(Wan-shi-ren-ji).
