Xiao-Xi-Men is the minor west gate among the 14 gates of the Taiwanese capital in the Qing Dynasty, and it was built the latest among the eight gates of the main city. The first generation of Xiao-Xi-Men was built in the 40th year of Qianlong Era (1775). Taiwan Magistrate Yuan-Shu, Jiang, built it. Originally called Qing-Shui-Men, it was located in the west of Tu-Ji-Cheng (Thóo-Kat-Tiânn). In the fifty-third year of Qianlong Era (1788), Magistrate Ting-Li, Yang presided over the reconstruction of the city, he built a new Xiao-Xi-Men on the side of the Thóo- Kat-Tiânn, and it is the Xiao-Xi-Men we see today, also known as "Jing-Bo Gate," refers to the calming of waves. Due to its proximity to the port, the Xiao-Xi-Men area has been very prosperous since the Qing Dynasty, and it is also a city gate that people often walked through.

In 1935, Xiao-Xi-Men, together with Da-Dong-Men (the Grand East Gate) and Da-Nan-Men (the Grand South Gate), was announced a historical site by the then Taiwan Governor's Office under the name "Tainan City." After the Second World War, Tainan City Government intended to widen Feng-Jia Road (today's Xi-Men Road, Section 1) to improve traffic, with the little west gate disqualified from the list of cultural assets, it was to be demolished. In 1969, with Yun-ping, Luo the NCKU President, and the assistance from the Dept. of Architecture, the Minor West Gate was moved to the Kuang-Fu Campus of NCKU in 1970 becomes the landmarks of NCKU.

Though the city gate had been removed, the people and incidents around the gate are still affecting Tainan. The story between NCKU and the Minor West Gate produced another tracing route for NCKU students.
