It is the earliest theological seminary in Taiwan, formerly known as "Fu-Qian University," founded in 1878. In 2002, the main building and chapel of the school were announced as historic monuments. The school site was called "Lun-Zi-Ding" in ancient times. In the Qing Dynasty, it was northern city tradesman Mr. Wan-Li, Su's family house, and garden. The trade business gradually declined at the end of the Qing Dynasty. In 1874, Reverend William Campbell bought this ancient site and its adjacent land on behalf of the Presbyterian Church; then, he decided to create a seminary here in 1878. In 1880, Pastor Barclay moved the "Missionary Training Class" in the medical hall of the old building on the then Er-Lao-Kou Street (near the Bo-Ai Hall of the former school for the hard of hearing students) and the "Capital College" was established. Pastor Barclay served as the first principal until his retirement in 1925.
