Dao-Fong Lagoon Museum

The coastal area of Tainan was surrounded by the lagoon and sandbars before the 18th century, with the vast "Tai-Jiang Lagoon" in the south and the "Dao-Fong Lagoon" in the north, and the "Soulangh Peninsula" in the middle. Due to the continuous siltation for centuries, the terrestrialization has made the lagoon virtually disappeared, leaving only the Bei-Men Lagoon.

Dao-Fong Lagoon Museum is built near the Sui-Ku-Tou Pier in Ancient Ma-Dou Port. In terms of architectural design, it attempted to use red bricks to represent the Han culture and white pavement to represent the Plains Indigenous People's Sirayan culture, emphasizing ethnic contact and integration in the historical process.

The museum is a three-story exhibition hall. The first floor is the experience field emulating the archaeological excavation area near the Sui-Ku-Tou pier and Dao-Fong lagoon. It also archives the cultural relics and images of archaeological excavations of Sui-Ku-Tou and the Ma-Dou Community.
Through archaeological evidence, people can glimpse the lifestyle of the people living here; everyone came to know the evidence and appearance of people living here in the wind and the sea. On the second floor, there is the Ma-Dou Harbor Legend and Archeological Collection Room. Through situational experience and activities, the public can experience and understand the Dao-Fong lagoon. The third floor tells the story of the Dao-Fong lagoon, which introduces the evolution of the lagoon from ancient times to the present, and there are some people's daily necessities displayed. History does not just words, but the formation of different lifestyles of common people from day to day daily life at various times.
