｜Fun with Stones and Rocks｜

Hello and welcome to newcomers!

During the shuttle around campus, there are some unique stone carvings, large stone slabs, and isolated rock blocks in front of different departments, at the school gate, and on the bikeway, or the pavement. Some questions might flash quickly in mind, such as, what stones made these craved statues? What is the special significance of those stones and rocks? Those suspicions will be assisted and answered by the professor and assistants from the Department of Earth Sciences.

This course will explore interesting rocks and stones on Cheng Kung campus.

It divides into four categories.

First, what are the characteristics of rocks and stones? Such as color, texture, and particle size.
Second, what are the factors of rocks and stones? According to the above characteristics to speculate how do those stones and rocks form? The temperature and the depth of stones and rocks forming on the seabed?
Third, the name of stones and rocks?
Fourth, the importance of stones and rocks? Through the analysis of stones and rocks on campus, students will know more about the wonders of NCKU besides humanities, history, and plants.
