After the World War II, the running water system became prevalent, so the Dutch well was gradually forgotten and eventually buried in the sand. The location of the well was identified in 1998 with the help Mr. Huang Xian-Jing and other local seniors.
The well was eventually resurfaced with the efforts and sponsorship of the director of Lichang Temple, Mr. Yang Yuan-Fu. Feishalun, where the well is located, is also called "Fanziliao hill".
It is 18 meters above the sea level. Because it is located on the plain, one can see far on the hill. A first-class and a third-class triangulation points have been set up at different times on the hill. During the Japanese occupation era, the Japanese army built a wooden observatory on the hill for defense purpose.
Recently, Lichang Temple, Feishalun, the Dutch Well, the observatory, and Pingpu Cultural Park, have been organized as the attractions for tourists in the area.
