Beitouyang in Jiali District is one of the residing places for Soulangh tribe. The tribal people worship Alid (a general term of ancestral spirit) at "Kuwa", their public shrine. The private shrine is called "gai" or "private gai".

Lichiang Temple is a Kuwa built in 1955, formed by several private "gais" of the tribe. In the name of the temple, "Li" comes from "Alid" and "Chang" means "longevity". It is located on the southern slope of Feishalun at Beotouyang. In the Kuwa, a few pots and pebbles are being worshipped.

The "water" in the pots symbolizes the highest power in the universe. Betel nuts, wine, rice dumplings are presented to Alid in common days. Whole pigs are presented as the sacrifice to Alid during the annual worship ratuals on the 29th day of March on the lunar calendar.

Indigenous and Han cultures have merged in Beitouyang. Matzu, the goddess of Han people, is being worshipped by tribal people in the nearby Chingchan Temple. Legends about earlier encounters between Han and Siraya peoples are well kept in this area.
